NURS 6565: Goals Evaluation

NURS 6565: Goals Evaluation

As a nurse practitioner, setting goals is essential since it helps individuals in ensuring that they keep a record of their strengths and opportunities as well as overall weaknesses and threats that may hinder these goals’ achievement (Renzi et al., 2019). Some goals that were important to me included acknowledging the best way to order appropriate diagnostics and laboratory investigations to ensure that I diagnose and treat my cancer patients to achieve positive health outcomes. Some diagnostics areas I am confident in include cerumen removal, clinical breast examination, gait and balance assessment, herpes culture, pap smear, and peak flow meter. For example, nurse practitioners must understand how to properly engage in cerumen removal to prevent the patients from suffering adverse effects like hearing loss. Also, a pap smear is essential in the 21st century since it helps women realize their cervical cancer statement to prevent its occurrence and advance to adverse stages.

However, some of the areas I realized I need to work on for better results include Digital Rectal Exam, CXR Interpretation I &D abscess, and KOH skin slide for fungus. According to Christie et al. (2019), a digital rectal examination is essential for patients with stool problems. Therefore, through engaging in research from known nursing scholarly journals, I am sure that I will manage to understand how one carry’s out the examination. Another learning opportunity is engaging in CXR interpretation, KOH skin slide for fungus, and I&D abscess since they are also essential when carrying out successful diagnostics (Fischbach et al., 2021). I see opportunities rather than threats in areas that I would not complete without supervision because I will reevaluate my personal and professional goals, making it easier for me to boost my areas of weakness. Hence, it will be crucial for me to involve my mentor and nursing tutors in enhancing these areas of weakness to improve my productivity in nursing practice.
