Healthcare facilities require precision when engaging in job responsibility execution and accountability to aid their healthcare services success. As a result, healthcare employees must understand their organizational structure keenly since the knowledge helps them acknowledge their responsibilities and that of the other individuals within the healthcare facility for smooth healthcare services transactions. Therefore, the paper aims to explain hospital leadership and operating room organization structure, economic functions, business principles, and graduates’ information synthesis and thinking level in business success.
Operating rooms and hospital leadership deal with complex job structures that tend to incorporate formal systems that can adapt and sustain changes for efficiency and stability. According to Belrhiti et al. (2018), those healthcare organizations that embrace well-defined hierarchical structures, routine activities, procedures, and rules are based on stability to achieve seamless objectives. Hence, the complexity theory can explain the organizational structure that operating rooms and hospital leadership emulates. Complexity theory works under the premise that intricate interaction web consists of nonlinearity though they tend to exhibit sensitivity to the existing conditions in the healthcare system (Belrhiti et al., 2018). Therefore, when operating rooms and hospital leaderships indulge in decision-making processes, they may experience bounded instability and instability since they are an important part of those healthcare facilities and their systems that aim to operate through creative and innovative culture to maintain competitiveness and sustainability.
Health economics is essential for healthcare organizations to evaluate before engaging in any project. When the healthcare management clearly understands an organization’s principles, such as labor division, authority division, command unity, and scalar principles, it becomes easier to leverage the healthcare functions to provide safe and quality healthcare services. Hence, some areas that need to be keenly evaluated include resources that incorporate healthcare employee hiring, capital, and raw materials, which are part of the inputs. Also, there will be a need to evaluate productive process output like therapeutic materials and healthcare providers to determine the cost of the healthcare services. In such a case, there is a need to evaluate how output and inputs may affect various mediating factors like the production environment, as some healthcare facilities are private while others are publicly owned.
Business principles are essential in healthcare, especially for graduates, since it helps them maintain ethical standards in healthcare services. Raftery et al. (2022) accentuate that business principles require all healthcare employees to abide by the healthcare organizations’ laws and regulations. That way, it becomes easy for the healthcare professional graduates to distinguish the right and wrong actions when making any decision when engaging in patient care practices. Hence, when these graduates become nurse managers, they will know how to deal with organizational change, like engaging in fair decisions when downsizing.
Nursing graduates’ information synthesis and thinking are essential when evaluating healthcare business success. According to Raftery et al. (2022), the most important factor for healthcare graduates within the business context is information skills, especially when business information requires critical analysis. Hence, it becomes easy for graduates with information literacy to synthesize and leverage information during decision-making processes, thus increasing the healthcare business’ competitive advantage. That is why just like these graduates engage in evidence-based research when evaluating different diseases and treatment procedures, it is also essential to incorporate evidence-based arguments when making business-related decisions. In conclusion, nursing graduates need to have great knowledge of the healthcare business since it increases their knowledge of making informed decisions, thus making them better leaders in nursing practice.
